Space Coast Chronicles is the result of nearly a decade of photography capturing Florida's booming space industry

The Story

In 2017 I started photographing rocket launches from all over Florida's Space Coast โ€” drawn to the natural beauty of the spaceport's surrounding landscape as much as the spectacle of a rocket launch. What started as a hobby transformed into breathtaking photography, short films, and live launch broadcasts.

I couldn't tell you which launch it was, but a long-exposure streak photo in the local paper caught my attention. Then a few weeks later, in late 2016, I came across some incredible launch photography online โ€” and that was the gravity assist. I dug out an old hobby, picked up a Nikon D5300, and started shooting launches as soon as I could.

For nearly a decade I've documented the space program from near and far. This isn't just about rockets โ€” it's about the people, the places, and everything that gets us into deep space and onto other planets. Archiving each small step, in between each giant leap, has become my life's mission. And with that, I hope to help inspire the next generation of space pioneers.

Gear & Credentials

Media Credentials

Space News Media โ€” credentialed at Kennedy Space Center & Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Starbase TX, and beyond.

Equipment

Nikon & Z Cam bodies, Blackmagic Design cameras and switchers, ambisonic audio rigs for spatial sound capture.

Software & Workflow

Lightroom for stills. DaVinci Resolve Studio for color and finishing. ATEM for live production, with custom tooling and software built around the workflow.

I've spent a lot of time in the field โ€” setting up cameras at launch pads, navigating coquina rock on the shores of the Indian River Lagoon, trudging through the sand dunes at Starbase, and pulling fiber across the Press Site lawn at 2am to stream another Starlink launch. It never gets old.

I've been fortunate to share in documenting history alongside some incredible people. With Cosmic Perspective and Everyday Astronaut, we've covered everything from Starship to the Astro Awards to a solar eclipse with Bill Nye. In 2025 I started contributing to Spaceflight Now โ€” serving as technical director for livestreams, operating cameras, and building out custom camera systems, network infrastructure and software for our little studio at the Kennedy Space Center Press Site.
